Open Call for Applications to the NIRI Scientific Council

The National Institute of Research and Innovation (NIRI) has announced elections to its Scientific Council.

The Scientific Council is NIRI’s highest collegiate decision-making body and comprises 15 members, including external representatives.

The minimum eligibility requirement for candidates seeking election to the Scientific Council is a doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent).

Qualified and interested candidates are invited to apply for membership of the NIRI Scientific Council by submitting the following documents in English and/or Latvian to pd@niri.lv:

  • Curriculum Vitae (CV);
  • Letter of Motivation;
  • For external candidates, a document certifying the award of a doctoral degree (copy of diploma);
  • A video presentation of no more than two minutes in length, introducing the candidate and outlining their envisaged contribution to the development of NIRI as a member of the Scientific Council. (If the total size of the application files exceeds 25 MB, please upload them to Google Drive, Failiem.lv, or another file-sharing service and send us the download link.)

The application deadline is 3 July 2026.

Members of the Scientific Council are elected by the NIRI General Assembly. The election is scheduled to take place on 22, 23 and 24 July 2026.

The maximum remuneration for members of the NIRI Scientific Council is EUR 638 per month.
