The National Institute for Research and Innovation (NIRI) is implementing the five-year TARGETWISE project, aimed at advancing drug discovery research in metabolic diseases through functional omics and big-data analysis.
The project is managed by Prof. Maija Dambrova, Project Manager and Leading Researcher at NIRI, while its scientific development is supported by Prof. Helgi B. Schiöth, ERA Chair and Leading Researcher and Mentor of the Metabolic Research Group. An internationally recognised researcher with extensive experience in research excellence, talent development and international collaboration, Prof. Schiöth brings valuable international expertise to the development of new data-driven approaches to metabolic disease research at NIRI.
Through TARGETWISE, NIRI is strengthening its expertise in functional omics, biostatistics and big-data analysis, while building international research networks and developing new approaches to the discovery and validation of drug targets for unmet medical needs.
