NIRI is offering a permanent full-time position of Data Curator of Metabolic
Research Group. The position is offered within the scope of European Regional
Development Fund project TARGETWISE.
A Data Curator is an expert responsible for managing, preserving and performing
initial exploratory and machine learning scientific analysis of organization’s research
data. The curator ensures compliance with policies and regulatory requirements,
supports the implementation of FAIR principles, and promotes high-quality, easily
accessible data.

Key Responsibilities


Data Management and Consultation
● Support researchers in structuring data according to FAIR principles and assist with
metadata preparation.
● Computing dataset summary statistics and performing basic statistical and machine
learning analysis
Data Processing, Security, and Archiving
● Advise on the protection of sensitive data, including personal data, and recommend
tools and best practices for secure handling.
● Provide guidance on selecting suitable data formats and trusted institutional or
international repositories for long-term storage and archiving.
Data Publication and Open Science
● Support researchers in evaluating data quality and preparing datasets for publication,
ensuring accessibility, citability, and transparency.
● Advise on open science requirements and licensing (e.g., Creative Commons).
● Support researchers in depositing data to public resources
Collaboration and Communication
● Act as an intermediary between researchers and institutional units (Library, Legal
Department, IT Services, etc.).
● Facilitate effective information exchange to support institution-wide research data
management practices.

Benefits:
Basic salary (FTE): EUR 38 760,- p.a. before taxHealth insurance

a) Motivation letter (up to 1 A4 page), particularly outlining experience in
research data curation (management and maintenance of data throughout its
lifecycle);
b) CV in Europass format, providing data on education, trainings, personal skills
(language knowledge, communication, organization, computer skills), and
work experience; highlighting experience in research data management, data
curation, and application of FAIR principles.
